Federal work.
A different starting point.

A federal project cannot be classified from its mailing address alone.

Start with the Act’s scope.

The Federal Prompt Payment for Construction Work Act concerns eligible construction work on federal real property and federal immovables. Confirm the project, contracting parties and applicable transition provisions before treating it as a federal payment matter.

The work province still matters.

The Act provides for designation of provincial regimes. In designated provinces, the interaction between the federal and provincial rules can differ by tier. A single generic federal calculator would obscure those distinctions.

Counting is different, too.

The federal framework includes excluded-day rules for specified periods. Reusing a provincial calendar-day calculator can produce the wrong date. These educational tools intentionally do not calculate federal deadlines.

Keep the evidence and the question together.

Identify the project, the governing contract, your tier, the proper-invoice event and the relevant payment or notice. Use that record to obtain the right interpretation for the situation.
